ABSTRACT

A detailed study on reconfigurable band-notched antennas for UWB applications is presented in Chapter 6. This is a dynamic research area and has the advantage of shifting the notched frequency to other frequency spectrum within the UWB frequency range. In UWB system, there is a band-overlapping issue, where some narrow-band frequencies already exist within the specified UWB spectrum which causes interference. Therefore, to overcome the interfering issues, various methods have been adopted by different researchers that are comprehensively described in this chapter. Furthermore, a brief study on switchable notched-band frequencies using PIN diodes, RF MEMS switch, etc. is also presented, which will be helpful for readers to understand the switching mechanisms.
