ABSTRACT
This chapter defines methods for calculating pressure drops in pipelines and calculates the power of the pump and compressor with different efficiencies. The chapter presents the use of Bernoulli's equation in evaluating piping pressure drop in the presence of fittings: valves, elbows, sudden contraction, and expansion. Five software packages used to verify manual calculations are UniSim, PRO/II, Aspen Plus, SuperPro Designer, and Aveva Process Simulation.
