ABSTRACT

Chapter 4 introduces the detailed design of the shell and tube heat exchangers used for multiple purposes in heating or cooling systems. This chapter presents methods for estimating the total heat transfer coefficient and calculating the number of tubes, diameter, and heat exchanger length. It also explains, with practical examples, methods for measuring pressure drops in the tube and the casing side. Check the specifications of the handcrafted heat exchanger with five software packages, namely, UniSim/Hysys, PRO/II, Aspen Plus, SuperPro Designer, and Aveva Process Simulation.
