ABSTRACT

In gas absorption processes, the gas mixture moves upward through the gas absorption column, and the solute is gradually transferred to the liquid phase and removed from the gas. This chapter introduces the absorption tower design, calculation of the minimum solvent feed rate, the number of transport units, tower height, and diameter. Five programs validated the results: UniSim, PRO/II, Aspen Plus, SuperPro, and Aveva Process Simulation. In general, the manually computed results agree with the simulation predictions.
