ABSTRACT
Liquid–liquid extraction (LLE) separates compounds based on their relative solubility in two different immiscible liquids. In this chapter, a detailed design of the LLE tower is presented, computed stream compositions, and plot ternary equilibrium diagram. Five software packages simulate the liquid extraction in different design cases, and then used software packages are UniSim/Hysys, PRO/II, Aspen Plus, SuperPro Designer, and Aveva Process Simulation. Generally, the manually calculated results comply with the simulation predictions.
