ABSTRACT

Thriving in the 21st century requires a new set of leadership competencies that enhance building an equitable culture where all employees are welcome and supported. Creating a culture of belonging requires identifying conditions that support success and barriers that stymie progress. Leveraging Appreciative Inquiry as a change agent facilitates designing for new behaviors and conditions for success. Creating role models is essential for success across the organization including at the board and C-suite levels. Building conditions for organizational intelligence supports embedding JEDI values and goals into everyone’s jobs. Integrating a culture of belonging into the talent ecosystem is crucial for driving impact and requires deep assessment of policies and practices and launching of tools to promote belonging. Crucial to the transformation is reshaping values and norms and transparently sharing information with internal and external stakeholders.
