ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an in-depth analysis of the strength design of shells and slabs based on Eurocode 2. The strength design of slabs is explained using the sandwich method, modifying the original approach for handling transverse shear forces. To study the behavior of reinforcing steel in the ultimate state of bending, an ultimate strain distribution between the outer layers is introduced. The chapter includes several examples that illustrate the application of these methods. The chapter also covers the design of reinforced concrete slabs under punching loading.
