Introduction

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the commonest abdominal surgery performed around the world. Bile duct injury is a disastrous complication of the procedure. A clear understanding of the biliary anatomy, the concept of ‘Critical View of Safety’ (CVS) and a modification of the operative technique when CVS is unachievable, are among the important steps towards performing safe cholecystectomy.
