ABSTRACT
Various predisposing factors for bile duct injury have been identified. The infundibular approach to the gallbladder as opposed to the ‘Critical View of Safety’ approach makes the common bile duct vulnerable to misidentification as the cystic duct. This perception error remains, by far, the most common cause of injury to the bile duct.
