ABSTRACT
Locums have been and will always be a part of the health care in the NHS. Locums are temporary medical staff who fill gaps in permanent medical rotas by providing short-term cover for planned and unplanned absences. The majority of locum doctors are employed by specialist agencies offering doctors to fill shifts or vacancies on a temporary basis, usually for durations ranging from half a day to a few weeks.
