ABSTRACT

Errors in different specialities vary. In general practice, the errors resulting in litigation often relate to failure to diagnose or refer, while in orthopaedics, they tend to involve surgical complications. In obstetrics, mistiming and misinterpretation (of CTG for example) are the common causes of claims. However, it is very rare that only one category of error will occur in one speciality. The same themes can be found across specialities with only the specific equipment or products varying.
