ABSTRACT
The moisture interactive hydrogenated DLC may increase the friction force with time in humid air. The most common application of amorphous diamond is to provide a superhard protective coating for cutting tools such as twist drills. Hydrogenated DLC coating has been applied to the leading face of the plunger. Because of its sharpness, diamond knives have been used as surgical knives for eye operation or for other industrial applications. Normally amorphous diamond coating is applied with high smoothness to suit mechanical and tribologic applications. One of the applications that require high adherence and super smoothness of hydrogenated DLC is in coating the magnetic tapes that contains evaporated metal. Hydrogenated DLC coating is also applied to golf clubs heads of the driver. There are new applications of DLC coating that are tried from time to time; some are in unexpected areas.
