ABSTRACT

Hyssop oil is a pale yellow to brownish yellow clear mobile liquid, which has an herbaceous, fresh minty and camphoraceous odor. In hyssop oils from various origins, over 285 chemicals have been identified. A full literature review of the qualitative and quantitative composition of commercial and non-commercial hyssop oils of various origins, their chemotypes and with data from the ISO standard, has been published in 2016. Contact allergy to and possible allergic contact dermatitis from hyssop oil has been reported in one publication only. An aromatherapist had non-occupational contact dermatitis with allergies to multiple essential oils used at work, including hyssop oil.
