ABSTRACT

As taxonomists are working in all parts of the world, the taxonomic literature is also available in different languages and it is published in the form of pamphlets, articles, books, etc. A manual is a result of a floristic work that documents the flora with basic information about the plants including identification keys, description, glossary, history of botanical exploration of the area and documentation for the treatment of each of the included taxa. Monograph is a detailed taxonomic study of selected taxa using many types of evidence. Treatments are similar to monograph but are less comprehensive. Treatments include up-to-date nomenclature and classification. An atlas may include illustrations of the species of a particular taxonomic group or geographic area. A catalogue is tabulation of species details having varying amounts of information like complete author details, exact title of a scientific work, date of publication, etc.
