ABSTRACT

Scientific applications of geomatics are presented under different application contexts motivated by everyday geographic problems among other scientific curiosities. Principles of the scientific method are emphasized in order to demonstrate how knowledge for solving geographic problems can be communicated, as well as the need to describe scientific methods in sufficient detail for replication of the work by others. The need for accuracy, in observations, measurements, and predictions is also emphasized. A computational practice is performed in R. Solved exercises on scientific applications of geomatics are presented.
