ABSTRACT

The indirect measurement with a theodolite is called “stadia”. Using the principle of stadia, a quick method is developed for determining horizontal distance and leveling difference between two points by surveying. When working on sloping terrain, the vertical angle is used to calculate the horizontal component of the slant distance, as well as to determine the difference in height between two points. As a computation practice, data from survey of distances in a soccer field, with irradiations from the center to the edges through a theodolite are used. The creation of database and distance determinations by the stadimetric equation implemented in R are practiced. The joining of new data in database and recording of results in a file are also demonstrated.
