ABSTRACT
The previous chapters have seen optimistic look into the implementation of big data into petroleum industry including benefits, application, implementation, research and real-world implementation. However, there is always other side to the coin, and the actual implementation has certain hurdles along the way that restrict the full-fledged implementation of big data in oil and gas operations. With the amount of benefits that big data caters, it is vital to take a look at the challenges that disallow the same. For the same, a deeper look at the hurdles along with their explanation (and reason of existence) is undertaken in the chapter to help O&G companies understand them better and possibly aim to solve them. The chapter will equip the reader with apprehensive understanding of all the challenges faced by companies in the industry that limit the level of real-world implementation.
