ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with the evaluation of HIDRO-IMP-U technology in a long-term pilot plant test. All the experimental conditions (materials, pilot plant description, catalyst loading, catalyst sulfiding, and experiments) are described in detail. The results are discussed for each reactor (R1 and R2) in terms of changes in product properties such as API gravity, impurities removal, and liquid composition, and other operational parameters such as sediment formation, residue conversion, hydrogen consumption, and metals deposition. The effect of temperature is also evaluated. Characterization of spent catalysts taken from different reactor lengths is carried out and examined by carbon, sulfur, metals deposition, and textural properties.
