ABSTRACT
As a young, eager officer, Doug worked hard at establishing a great reputation at the police service with his platoon, bosses, and senior command. It was through this pursuit of excellence that; he encountered several calls for service that troubled him, and he went to a dark place. In those days, there was no mental health help offered to officers, nor would anyone seek it out for fear of being branded weak. His beautiful daughter Reighan was born in 1996, and his life now had a purpose: to be a great dad. He descended back into the darkness and tried to see the light, taking several risks during a call for service that could have ended badly. One of those risks saw Doug and two fellow officers jumped into an icy pond, saving the life of a male who had driven his car there. This fuelled his adrenaline lust, and he continued to chase it wherever he could find it. In 2004, he was blessed with the birth of his second sweet daughter, Alexis.
