ABSTRACT
Smart computing in the context of IoT–Cloud involves the introduction of advanced computing capabilities including real-time awareness of the surrounding environment and analytics (of the big data detected from various sensors and devices) into the IoT applications by leveraging the capabilities of Cloud. This enables incorporating intelligence into the decision-making process with the advanced resources made available through the Cloud.
This chapter provides and insight into big data analytics, cognitive computing capabilities and the underlying technologies. The chapter explains the various deep learning approaches that help realize smart computing in IoT–Cloud. A few major case studies under various domains where smart computing over IoT–Cloud is used have been elaborated in the chapter enabling the readers acquire a clear and vivid picture of the usage of smart computing over IoT–Cloud.
