ABSTRACT

The electromagnetic particle-in-cell (EM-PIC) method is based on Maxwell equations under the consideration of the beam-wave interaction in cells. Therefore, this method can effectively simulate the interaction between electromagnetic waves and track particles in vacuum and is widely applicable to electric vacuum devices and microwave components. This article focuses on the basic methods and concepts based on multipactor phenomenon and vacuum applications. This method is extensive and profound. Due to space application limitations, this chapter does not include all applications and methods of EM-PIC. If readers have a need for more in-depth learning, they can refer to special books.
