ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a broad view of the technical feasibility of a project idea. The objectives of the study are discussed first. The primary objective is to select the most appropriate project in terms of viability, operating features and costs. Technical analysis should also attempt to identify and correct weaknesses that could adversely affect the project. The text deliberates on material inputs, viz., raw materials, processed materials and other supplies. Choice of technology and manufacturing process are discussed, followed by the choice of product mix. Various issues connected with the plant capacity are then deliberated. The aspects that have to be taken into consideration for choosing location and site are discussed. Selection of machinery and equipment forms another feature of technical analysis. This chapter concludes with a short discussion on construction activities associated with a project.
