ABSTRACT

This chapter covers the widely used system protection devices, such as various types of fuses, overload protection, electromechanical relays, and various types of circuit breakers. It then continues with the differential protection schemes for generators, busses and feeders, ground fault current interrupters, various ways of protecting transformers and motors, lightening and switching voltage protections, surge protection for small sensitive loads, power system health monitoring, and finally the arc flash analysis for equipment and human safety.
