ABSTRACT
Learning is what Chapter 6 is all about. Learning about AI and learning from AI. There are many different types or methods of AI, but the most important feature of any AI is the reason and purpose for which you are using it, also known as the imperative of the AI. We take a step on from the application of AI to educational data, and explore how and what more we can learn from the analysed data that has been produced. In particular, we explore what can be understood by combining different data sources. For example, the profiles of lessons that we produced in Chapter 5 are related to survey data about teacher and student confidence. We also illustrate how eye-tracking data and machine learning AI can be used to understand how students are collaborating and problem-solving. We also revisit our “old friend” GOFAI to explore how it can be combined with machine learning AI to reveal even more useful information from which we can learn.
