ABSTRACT

In chapter 6, basically we have discussed several factor-based models developed upon uniformly and symmetrically distributed linguistic terms sets. As mentioned in previous chapters, there are situations when the experts’ opinions require setting up the linguistic scale. However, it is not realistic to accept that all decision makers should agree on the same membership function associated to linguistic terms (Dong, Li, and Herrera, 2016; Herrera, Herrera-Viedma, and Martinez, 2008). This fact may lead to creating unbalanced terms in a particular linguistic scale. Figure 7.1 is a good interpretation for such an unbalanced scale.
