ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to elaborate upon the procedure to develop models based on the model structures and to evaluate the risk of Invasive Alien Plant Species (IAPS). After performing a literature survey and having discussions with plant science experts, four parameters in quantitative form which are related to the dispersal trait have been identified. These parameters are: number of seeds in a fruit, annual seed rain per m2, seeds viability and long distance dispersal strength. In this chapter, the authors develop models to evaluate the dispersal risk of IAPS using the proposed Method. The chapter discusses the development of models based on the parameterized intersection operators. The chosen invasive species show invasiveness mainly through other factors than the dispersal factors.
