ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we focus on industrial areas (excluding aerospace) where composite materials are used significantly to increase structural performance. After having listed the applications concerned and the associated use of composites, we examine the case of composite parts in the automotive industry, wind turbines, shipbuilding (and particularly competition), sports, and leisure: skis, bikes, and associated equipment. Various applications are finally treated: pressurized gas vessels, bogie frames, tubes for offshore installations, etc.
