ABSTRACT
All ingredients of cosmetic products have one or – more often – several functions and belong to one or more functional classes. The classification of functions and their definition/description in the EU INCI system (1) differs to some extent from those as defined in the USA system (2). In this chapter, all functional classes are listed alphabetically, as used in the EU ( Chapter 5.2 ) and the USA ( Chapter 5.3 ) with their definitions/descriptions and with all chemicals/substances in these classes that have caused allergic cosmetic dermatitis. Their Monographs can all be found in Chapter 2.
