ABSTRACT

Tension member is defined as a structural member subjected to axial loading, which induces only uniform tensile stresses across the FRP cross section. The section is considered to have a symmetric shape about the geometric centroid and is reinforced with a symmetric fabric architecture, i.e. inducing only uniform axial tensile stresses under uniform tensile loads across the cross section. The tension members to be designed herein are assumed to be under uniform tensile stress through the cross section and along the entire length of a member, i.e., any moment induced due to out-of-plane misalignment from manufacturing errors or residual stress build-up is neglected.
