ABSTRACT
Solar energy conversion using photovoltaic systems have led to real estate speculation with concomitant price escalation and dire social consequences. Improvements in productivity using mechanization through fossil fuel revolution are now marginal thus leading to demand for carbon free electricity. Electricity is generated from Photo voltaic (PV) panels mounted in designed spacing and height, so that limited shading allows for productive agriculture on land below. In Japan, concept of agrivoltaic is also known as “Solar Sharing”. Cohering the capability of enhanced productivity and resource use efficiency of greenhouse with the renewable energy production; photovoltaic greenhouse (PVG) shows a credible solution. Agrivoltaic allows double utilization of the same piece of land for generation of electricity and food production. The System will also have the following features and benefits that will significantly contribute to the economic and general progress of the rural people particularly farmers.
