ABSTRACT

In Chapter 7, probabilistic life-cycle bridge network management is presented. The probabilistic performance indicators used for bridge network management are: (a) connectivity-based; (b) travel flow-based; (c) cost-based; and (d) risk-based. The time-dependent bridge network performance prediction with maintenance interventions is described. The effects of maintenance interventions applied to individual bridges on the bridge network performance are investigated. The general concepts and applications of the multi-objective optimum life-cycle bridge network management are described. The life-cycle bridge network management presented in this chapter is based on the bridge performance deterioration under normal loading effects and environmental conditions.
