ABSTRACT

Matt Householder is an elder statesman of video and PC games. Perhaps most well-known as a producer on Diablo and Diablo II at Blizzard North, Householder’s career started years earlier. He worked on early hits like Temple of Apshai and a port of Rogue, the roguelike that started it all, for the Mac. Years ahead of the influx of casual games on social networks and smartphones, he played an integral role in coming up with titles such as California Games. Before that, he published games for Nintendo and was working as a producer for 3DO when he met Max and Erich Schaefer, then still making console games before co-founding Blizzard North with David Brevik.
