ABSTRACT

Land use is the human use of land. Land use involves the management and modification of natural environment or wilderness in to built environment such as settlements and semi-natural habitats such as arable fields, pastures, and managed woods. The urban growth boundary is one form of land-use regulation. The four main reasons of land degradation are over cultivation, deforestation, overgrazing and improper irrigation. The Government of India initiated a number of centrally sponsored schemes like Integrated Wasteland Development Programme, Drought-Prone Area Programme and Desert Development Programme for assisting states to increase productivity of marginalized land. The Natural Resources Conservation Service, formerly known as the Soil Conservation Service, is an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture that provides technical assistance to farmers and other private landowners and managers. In many regions of the world, biomass production and water security is at risk due to the overuse of water resources and soil degradation.
