ABSTRACT

The farm yard manure should be reinforced by addition of superphosphate at 30–40 kg/trench before application to fields. Use of superphosphate as chemical preservative will have following three advantages: yard manure is in organic form which is readily available to the plants, it will increase the efficiency of phosphorus utilization in acidic soils which tend to fix the available phosphorus of superphosphate into unavailable form. Vermi-culture and vermi-composting are two interlinked and inter dependent processes, which when conjoined, can be referred as vermi-technology. Preparation of vermin-composting beds after necessary pre-tests and selection of suitable species is done. When vermin-compost and vermin-casting are ready for collection, top layer appear somewhat dark brown, granular as if used dry tea leaves have been spread over the layer. Watering should then stop 2–3 days and gently compost should be scrapped from the top layer or to a depth, it appears as vermi-compost.
