ABSTRACT

Two main areas are described in the chapter: solving a set of two coupled PDEs using the PDE Modeler interface, and solving 3D PDEs using the commands provided by the PDE Toolbox. The solution steps for each of these areas are presented, explained in detail, and used to solve some practical applications. Between the solved problems – coupled 2D PDEs for the deflection of a square plate under an area load; a set of two 2D Schnakenberg PDEs; steady-state thermal 3D PDE for a hollow cuboid; unsteady thermal 3D PDE for the disk; 3D vibration PDE for slab with elliptical hole; and a 3D electric potential PDE for the variable conductivity plate. There is also a table with some additional commands and examples of their use for 2D and 3D PDE solving.
