ABSTRACT

This chapter describes various durability aspects of UHPC under physically or mechanically and chemically attacked conditions that are assessed using accelerated durability tests. The properties, including water permeability, chloride ion permeability, carbonation, corrosion of steel reinforcement, freezing-thawing resistance, deicer scaling resistance, chemical attack resistance, alkali-silica reaction, abrasion resistance, and fire resistance, are compared to those of conventional concrete and high-performance concrete (HPC). This chapter aims to find out how durable it is for UHPC under different attacking environments and offers important tips for future design and applications.
