ABSTRACT
The cutoff plate is part of centrifugal fan housing. Double Inlet-Double Width (DIDW) fans have two single wide fan wheels mounted back-to-back on a common shaft in a single housing. On Single Inlet-Single Width fans the drive side is the side opposite the inlet. On DIDW fans, the drive side is the side that has the drive. The theoretical velocity of the air as it leaves the fan outlet. It’s calculated by dividing the air volume by the fan outlet area. The rise in total pressure from the fan inlet to the fan outlet; the measure of total mechanical energy added to the air by the fan. A fan performance curve is a graphic representation of the performance of a fan from free delivery to no delivery. Shaft couplings compensate for small deviations in alignment between the pump and motor shafts within the tolerances established by the manufacturer.
