ABSTRACT
As in any organization, it is necessary that management control be maintained and enhanced wherever possible. Necessary, at all organizational levels, is clear, effective, and efficient strategic management, which motivates and empowers people, and leads to the establishment of an integrated approach between various departments and people to achieve Total Manufacturing Assurance (TMA). As people and departments have their own personalities, diverse organizations must be flexible and adaptable in order to establish and implement a motivational strategy which promotes a positive working environment for all persons. Strategic organizational tactics address activity integration, project management, decision-making using qualitative and quantitative engineering management tools, technology leveraging, just-in-time manufacturing, computer-integrated manufacturing, and artificial intelligence-based expert systems. The ability to exploit and leverage the power and flexibility of advanced technologies, such as expert knowledge base systems, provides an excellent means for increasing management efficiency and eliminating, or reducing, management and operator error.
