ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we discuss design procedures of primary elements – slabs, beams, and columns– and foundations of different types, for example, piles and caissons, tank foundations, machine foundations, retaining walls, embankment and shore protection, trenches, culverts, and other miscellaneous structures.
Special structures, for example, silos and stacks, are included here with standard drawing details for the reader.
Design examples of beams, slabs, and columns are shown that are in accordance with ACI: 318–19. Design calculations in Indian standard codes are available in Chapter 12.
