ABSTRACT
This chapter presents various aspects of safety in engineering maintenance. It covers facts, figures, and examples, maintenance safety-related problems’ causes and factors responsible for dubious safety reputation in maintenance activity, factors that influence safety behaviour and safety culture in maintenance personnel, good safety-associated practices during maintenance work, maintenance-associated safety measures concerning machinery and guidelines for equipment designers to improve safety in maintenance, maintenance safety-associated questions for engineering equipment manufacturers, mathematical models, problems, and references.
There are two mathematical models covered in the chapter. At appropriate places, the chapter contains examples along with their solutions, and there are ten problems to test the reader’s comprehension in the area. Finally, it is added that the sources of most of the material covered in the chapter are given in its reference section. They will be useful to readers if they desire to delve more deeply into a specific topic or area.
