ABSTRACT

The controlled synthesis of BP-based nanomaterial is central to many applications resulting from their fascinating characteristics. The controlled synthesis is a strong approach to adapt to and improve properties as well as to detect how they depend on the various physical and chemical parameters that define a BP-based nanostructure, as properties of nanomaterial based on BP are strongly influenced by size, shape, composition, and structure (solid against hollow interior). This chapter focuses, in this connection, on the fundamental principles for the controlled synthesis of nanomaterials based on BP using the top-down and bottom-up approaches. This chapter will examine the fundamental physical characteristics, defect design, and general use of BP-based nanomaterial. Finally, some current problems and perspectives are presented in relation to the controlled synthesis of nanomaterials based on BP.
