ABSTRACT

A computer model of electric power systems based on systems thinking using system dynamics methodology is presented. The model presented is an illustration of modeling and simulation for policy planning and design, and such an experience is essential to face the challenge of the modeling and simulation of electric power systems for policy planning and analysis. To achieve this goal, the model is organized as introduction, verbal description, dynamic hypothesis, causal loop diagrams, stock–flow diagrams, model validation, simulated results, policy analysis and concluding remarks. The model is simulated to analyze the policy options to assist in the planning of electric power systems for policy planners and power system managers.
