ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the various forms that Maxwell's equations appear are introduced. This is followed with a discussion of the auxiliary vector potentials A and F, as well as the Hertz vectors, and the wave equations that they satisfy. The various forms of expressing the wave equation in terms of different forms of the propagation constants are presented. The Lorentz conditions are discussed. The boundary conditions satisfied by the electromagnetic fields are given for both electric and magnetic interfaces, as well as the use of the Leontovitch boundary conditions. This chapter ends with a discussion of the Uniqueness Theorem.
