ABSTRACT

The key objections to a DataOps approach are that many of its parts have been tried in the past and did not work. This is down to two reasons: Firstly, people grasp onto a small aspect of the new and then implement it, not really understanding the full picture, and then claim it does not work. Secondly, the methodology pulls together data tools and techniques that have been around for many years. This can mistakenly mean that people associate them with how they were implemented in the past. The DataOps methodology is about how these tools and techniques are brought together and implemented that makes the difference. The methodology and approach will take some effort, likely more than people get back in the first project, due to the learning curve and establishing the new tools and techniques.
