ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the impact of high-lift system in terms of aircraft performance. It outlines parameters in order to build up a good high-lift system in view of the aircraft as a system. Starting from the general force balance of an aircraft and the effect of ground proximity, the major topics are the calculation of field lengths as well as climb performance.
