ABSTRACT

Lifestyle is the living mode of an individual, but also of a family, a society, or a nation. In the field of health, lifestyle concerns choice of food, physical activity, hobbies, and more. There are two general kinds of lifestyle: healthy lifestyle (or good habits), and unhealthy lifestyle (or bad habits). A good diet is a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, seafoods, dairy products, potable water, and less in fats, sugar, and processed foods. A bad diet is due to the excessive consumption of alcohol, tobacco, abuse drugs (cocaine, heroin, etc.), processed foods, sugar, fats, and so on. Daily physical activities such as walking, jogging, cycling, gymnastics, and yoga can play a role in health maintenance. In contrast, unmoving or sedentary life can cause diseases and mental disorders. Singing, dancing, and social activity are good hobbies, while playing cards and electronic game addiction contribute to an unhealthy lifestyle. Health and lifespan also depend on the environment, including climate, pollution, healthcare, society organization, and so on. Lifestyle also includes choice of habitation, temperament, and behaviors with family and friends. Some famous healthy diets include the Mediterranean diet, the Okinawan diet (people in these regions have the longest lifespans in the world), and the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension diet.
