ABSTRACT

Like multipliers, multipliers-cum-dividers (MCDs) also are classified into time division MCDs, peak responding MCDs, and pulse position responding MCDs. TDMCDs using switches are described in this chapter. The peak responding MCD is classified into a peak detecting MCD and peak sampling MCD. The output voltage depends on the sharpness and linearity of the sawtooth waveform. The offset that exists on the sawtooth wave will cause an error at the output; hence, it is to be nulled by suitable circuitry. The polarity of all input voltages must be single polarity only. The op-amp is configured in a negative closed loop feedback, and a positive DC voltage is ensured in the feedback loop. Hence, its inverting terminal voltage must equal to its non-inverting terminal voltage. .
