ABSTRACT

Chapter 7 explains seven techniques that designers use to collect as many ideas in a short amount of time and, most of all, on command: these tools help them remove the constraints put in place by one’s rational mind during everyday life, but that don’t need to exist when designing. Such techniques range from ones to be used in a team, to ones that any designer can use on their own, each one with its pros and cons. They are needed before the design tools themself, in order to avoid the ‘blank page’ issue that writers often face, letting the reader know how to overcome it.

These tools may seem strange at first, especially ones to be used in groups, so it’s important to get that first embarrassment out of the way as soon as possible: Chapter 7 explains the working of each tool, so that any action that could seem embarrassing to perform now makes perfect sense to unleash one’s creativity.
