ABSTRACT

Chapter 13 presents thirteen manipulation techniques used in many different jobs, from cinema to marketing, also known as ‘nudges’. Nudges are a tool made of tens of different smaller tools, each one useful in a different scenario, making a good starting pool essential to understand their working and start the process of mastering the ones that suits the design-style of the designer the most.

The use of nudges in games is one of the most effective ways to direct the player toward the desired feelings and actions, and, since there is no one tool perfect for everything, seeing the difference between some of these techniques is an effective way to understand each one’s strengths.
