ABSTRACT

The ‘Target Audience Tools’ chapter takes into exam four techniques to understand the audience that every modern designer should know, including three tasks to let the reader test their correct understanding of those tools. The tasks can be compared to the ones made by the author found on the relative website, so that the reader can see if they made any mistake in the use of the frameworks rather than in the development of the task itself.

These tools are the fundamentals of different frameworks commonly used in the modern game industry, also working as an entering gate to many different techniques and taxonomies found in different studios. Each tool has a different goal in the development process, from understanding the cause of a need or problem, to identifying how each design choice can polarise an audience and impact their desire to purchase the game.
